The production of urban mini-type public space: another half mission of architectural design
Re-structure of urban streets: Example of Carpenter Center

Abstract

Responding to the relationship between architectural design and the production of urban mini-type public space,and from the perspective of urban design,this article discusses the necessity of the active participation of architectural design in the construction of urban minitype public space,the integration of architecture and urban space,as well as the way to build urban space by architectural design. It also examines China’s construction mechanism of urban mini-type public space,related theoretical research,and typical design cases. It concludes that the production of urban mini-type public space is another half mission of architectural design,which provides direction and reference for China’s education of architectural design,personnel cultivation,and architect’s responsibilities.
